How to plan your first ChatGPT ad campaign
Written by the Lets Elevate team · Reviewed 2 November 2026
Start with one audience, one useful offer and one next step. A clear plan makes the setup decisions easier and gives you something meaningful to review.
1. Choose the customer and the problem
Write down who the offer suits and the problem you solve. Be specific enough that you can recognise a suitable enquiry. For a fictional bookkeeping business, that could be owner-managed businesses looking for help keeping records organised.
2. Make the next step easy to understand
Choose a single action: request an introduction, buy a product or book a relevant conversation. Explain what happens afterwards and only promise a response time you can meet.
3. Match the advert to the page
The visitor should recognise the same offer after clicking. Check the page on a phone and send an internal test enquiry. Confirm the notification, source record and follow-up owner.
4. Define your spending decision
Write down your approved test ceiling, stop condition and review date. Use your own commercial figures. A platform minimum is not a recommendation for what your business should spend.
5. Check the actual platform setup
Use the official quickstart guide alongside Ads Manager. Review the live account, billing basis, budget exposure, locations and timing before submission. A submitted advert is not proof that it is serving.
Can paying for ads buy a ChatGPT recommendation?
No. Paid placements are separate from organic answers. Plan an advertising test rather than promising control over a response.
Next: work through your test budget and check the destination page.
